Teen & Adolescent Health

Growing up can be complex. We provide calm, expert support for teenagers and their families, with sensitive, age-appropriate care that respects confidentiality and individual needs. Led by Consultant Paediatrician Nicholas Richens, our service helps young people navigate change, feel heard, and get timely answers.

What we can help with

• Puberty concerns: early/late development, growth, periods, cramps, heavy or irregular bleeding
• Skin issues: acne, eczema, rashes; treatment plans and referrals when required
• Mental wellbeing: stress, anxiety, low mood, exam pressure, sleep problems
• Lifestyle: nutrition, weight concerns, sports health, fatigue, screen time, substance risks
• Confidential adolescent care, safeguarding guidance, and transition to adult services

We take a holistic approach. This may include a detailed history, examination, targeted tests (such as bloods, ferritin, vitamin D, hormones), and a clear plan. Where needed, we can prescribe, provide self-care guidance, and arrange rapid onward referral to dermatology, gynaecology, mental health, or sports medicine. Appointments are unhurried, and communication is clear—so teens and parents know what to expect.

Appointments are delivered at our Oxford clinic by Consultant Paediatrician Nicholas Richens. If ongoing care is needed, we can coordinate follow-up at Oxford, provide school or university letters, and liaise with other specialists. Learn more about our wider paediatric service here.
