What do we test for?

Bacteria & Yeast

Visual identification of microbes. Confirms infection and helps tailor treatment.

Bilirubin & Urobilinogen

Byproducts of red blood cell breakdown. Abnormal levels point to liver or bile duct problems.

Blood (Hematuria)

Reveals red blood cells in urine. Can indicate infection, stones, trauma or kidney issues.

Casts & Crystals

Tubular casts and different crystal types. Can signal kidney disease or stone formation.

Epithelial Cells

Cells lining the urinary tract. Excess may indicate contamination or infection.

Glucose

Checks sugar levels in urine. Presence suggests possible diabetes or poor blood sugar control.

Ketones

Identifies ketone bodies. High levels occur with uncontrolled diabetes or fasting.

Leukocyte Esterase

An enzyme from white blood cells. Positive test suggests inflammation or UTI.

Nitrites

Produced by bacteria that cause UTIs. A positive result suggests bacterial infection.

pH

Measures urine acidity/alkalinity. Abnormal pH can signal kidney stones, urinary tract infection (UTI) or metabolic disturbances.

Protein

Detects albumin and other proteins. Elevated protein may indicate kidney damage or disease.

Red Blood Cells (Microscopy)

Microscopic count of RBCs. Confirms hematuria and guides further urological investigation.

Specific Gravity

Assesses urine concentration. Helps evaluate hydration and kidney concentrating ability.

White Blood Cells (Microscopy)

Detects WBCs under the microscope. High counts support diagnosis of UTI or inflammation.

What is the At-Home Urine Chemistry & Microscopy Test?

Our at-home urine chemistry and microscopy test combines a dipstick analysis of chemical markers with a microscopic examination of urine components. This dual approach helps identify urinary tract infections, kidney issues, metabolic disorders and more—all from a simple mid‐stream urine sample you collect at home with our sterile kit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do the at-home urine test during my period?

No. You can complete the test any time of day. If you’re menstruating, try to avoid contamination by waiting until flow is light or using a panty liner.

Can I get a GP consultation after my at-home urine test?

Yes. You can book a GP consultation—video or in-person (additional fee)—to review and interpret your results, discuss treatment options, and plan any further tests.

How do I collect and return my at-home urine chemistry & microscopy test sample?

Collect a clean mid‐stream urine sample using the supplied sterile container and return it to our lab by the next working day. No special preparation is needed, but try to deliver within two hours of collection.

How long until I get my urine test results?

Results are typically available within 2–3 working days after the lab receives your sample. We’ll notify you by email when results are ready and arrange a GP follow-up if needed.

What can the at-home urine chemistry & microscopy test detect?

Yes. This test screens for signs of urinary tract infection, kidney stones, blood or protein in the urine, and other metabolic conditions—ideal for tracking symptoms at home.
