COVID-19 PCR Swab Test - Check for current infection & Fit to fly service

Working in partnership with our UKAS accredited laboratory, we can provide a PCR swab to check for current COVID-19 infection. The swab samples an individual’s nasopharyngeal (nose and throat) secretions for the presence of COVID-19.

For all other countries, and for general testing, the standard test can be accessed one of two ways:

PCR Swab Test- Frequently Asked Questions

Results timeline - Results are typically available within 24-48 hours of testing. We courier to the lab daily (weekdays) at 3PM (please contact the clinic if you require this confirmed). Samples reach the lab the following day at around midday, and from this point, the lab aims to return results to us within 12-24 hours. Unfortunately due to varying levels of demand, we are unable to guarantee or accept responsibility for delays.

If you need a faster result, please consider our expedited service. Further details available here.

Collecting kits - Kits ordered for collection at Mayfield Clinic can be collected from 10AM daily, or 1 hour after ordering between 10AM-5:30PM.

Returning samples - Home test kit samples can be dropped back to the clinic, where they should be left in the Mayfield Clinic Collection point to the right of our front-door. Alternatively they can be posted directly to the lab (we recommend either Royal Mail Special Delivery or Royal Mail Tracked 24). We courier each day at 3PM, so advise samples are returned before 3.

How are results shared? - Typically we arrange for results and your laboratory certificate to be emailed to you

What if I have symptoms or I'm meant to be self-isolating? - You are unable to attend the clinic. Please arrange for somebody to collect your test, or we will post out to you.

I'm flying, when should I get tested? - We typically share results 24-48 hours after we receive your sample. We are unable to advise when you should be tested, but we recommend that you arrange for your test to be as early as possible in your available window.

When can I submit a sample? - The lab will only analyse results received within 72 hours of sampling, so we recommend you plan your sample collection with this in mind. We are not able to provide refunds for tests returned outside the 72 hour window.

COVID-19 Antibody Test - The “Have I had coronavirus?” test

Before ordering, please read our Antibody test guide here. Our preferred method of testing is via 'venous' draw or 'venipuncture', where a GP draws blood from you at our Clinic in Summertown. Results are typically available within 48 hours.
