I qualified from Oxford/St Thomas' in 1980. I worked mainly around London as junior doctor and was a gastroenterology registrar at Barts but saw the light and switched to General Practice in 1984. I have 3 children aged 32, 25 and 22, the youngest is doing medicine at Bristol.
I am quite sporty - I got half Blues for Rugby and athletics whilst at Oxford. I enjoy tennis, cycling, running - completing Brighton Marathon last year. Naturally, I am interested in sports medicine and since I ruptured my Achilles tendon last year (on the dancefloor!), I have an additional understanding of the patient's perspective.
I also enjoy learning languages and can order a beer in about 6 of them. Italian is probably my forte. German prepositions are tricky!
