Travel Packages

Travel packages for UK residents

For UK residents travelling abroad, you may be required to submit a number of COVID-19 tests in order to complete a trip abroad. A combination of tests is likely required:

  • Outbound Departure Test - A PCR or lateral flow test, as required by your destination
  • Inbound Departure Test - A lateral flow or PCR taken in the 3 days before your departure back to the UK
  • Day 2/8 arrivals testing - One or two PCR tests submitted upon return, with positive results analysed for COVID variants
  • Test To Release - An additional PCR test taken on or after day 5 of travel quarantine, enabling Amber arrivals to end quarantine upon receipt of a negative result

Please note: You should confirm testing requirements with your destination, and check with the UK government on entrance to the UK testing and arrivals testing requirements, as rules are subject to frequent change. Mayfield Clinic cannot be held responsible for this guidance.

What we treat

End your travel isolation by taking a PCR test on Day 5 (where Day 0 is the day of arrival back into the UK). Upon receipt of a negative result, you can end your quarantine.

All of our PCR test results include a test result that can be used for travel. This result acts as a 'Fit To Fly' certificate, by confirming your result, your identity (including a passport number), your personal details, and the time and date of the swab sample and laboratory report.

Travellers entering the UK are required to submit samples for PCR testing, as part of the government's COVID-19 screening program. Tests have to be taken on Day 2 and Day 8 (for travellers from Amber countries). Positive results from Day 2 are sent for genomic sequencing / strain analysis.

Any questions?

Return your Test To Release kit to us on Day 5 (where Day 0 is the day you arrive back into the UK) before 3PM, and upon receipt of a negative result you can exit travel isolation / quarantine. You are still required to submit the Day 8 test.

Unfortunately as kits are personalised healthcare items they are non-refundable

For home test kits, you should return to Mayfield Clinic (Mon-Fri before 3PM) or one of our national drop points visible here: https://www.mayfieldclinic.co.... . We are unable to accept weekend returns to Mayfield Clinic, but can advise return options; please contact us via email.

There are 3 outcomes of your test:

  • Positive - You are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Please immediately follow PHE England guidance to isolate along with your household
  • Negative - You are not infected with the virus. Please continue to take sensible precautions, if you were self-isolating as an international arrival you may stop self-isolating.
  • Invalid - Occurs in 1-3% of samples. Typically (but not exclusively) this arises when insufficient human material is present on the swab sample, and is more frequent with home test kit samples. It can be mitigated by using our practitioner-led testing service. You must continue to isolate as an international arrival

Once you've collected your sample (self-test) or seen a practitioner for a sample collection, you will need to register your kit barcode according to the provided instructions. Results will be sent through to the registered email. Please check your junk mail if no results have been received at the expected time, and then contact info@mayfieldclinic.co.uk if still not resolved.

Although we seek to use the most accurate tests available, no test is 100% accurate and we are not able to guarantee a specific outcome from your COVID-19 test.

Results timelines should be treated as a guideline; they are not guaranteed and you should make plans accordingly. Please read our COVID-19 Testing Terms and Conditions and our Terms and Conditions.

Yes, once you've registered your barcode, results are sent 24/7
