Why use Mayfield Clinic for COVID testing?

Posted: 31/08/2021

Mayfield Clinic has provided COVID testing since the initial SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus tests were made available privately in May 2020. Leveraging our pre-existing laboratory relationships, we were able to offer some of the first PCR and antibody testing available in the UK, and have subsequently extended our services to include PCR testing for travel, Day 2 & 8, antibody testing (both to identify past infection, but also effective vaccination) and rapid antigen testing.

Since the early stages of the crisis, the market for coronavirus testing has evolved considerably. In addition to the traditional private providers of pathology services such as private GP practices and occupational health practices, consumers can now purchase testing directly from laboratories or from testing businesses exclusively setup to provide access to private COVID tests.

With this in mind, why should you choose Mayfield Clinic?

Reliable - Whilst no testing is infallible, throughout the crisis, we've strived to ensure that we consistently deliver testing to meet the expectations of our customers. This has included using 7 different laboratories, shifting capacity as required to deliver the fasted and most reliable testing possible.

Fast - For our travel testing, we run daily point-to-point couriers from all of our testing sites directly to the laboratories. This differs from other services that might rely on postal services for Fit To Fly testing.

Safe & Compliant - All of our COVID testing services are overseen by our advisory board of GMC registered general practitioners. Onsite testing services are delivered by General Practitioners or trained Healthcare Professionals. Testing is conducted under our UKAS ISO17025 accreditation and our CQC registration (applicable to our Oxford head office).

We publish our turnaround times monthly to demonstrate our commitment to meeting our customers' expectations; this is visible in our News section accessed via the Homepage.

Our COVID testing services

End your travel isolation by taking a PCR test on Day 5 (where Day 0 is the day of arrival back into the UK). Upon receipt of a negative result, you can end your quarantine.

All of our PCR test results include a test result that can be used for travel. This result acts as a 'Fit To Fly' certificate, by confirming your result, your identity (including a passport number), your personal details, and the time and date of the swab sample and laboratory report.

Confirm if you are currently carrying SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection by taking a PCR test. A PCR test is appropriate for identifying current infection from between day 0 (the day of first exposure) up to day 14. After day 14, an antibody test may be more suitable

Complete the government's mandatory testing for travellers entering the UK by submitting a Day 2 and Day 8 PCR sample. Positive results from Day 2 are sent for genomic sequencing to identify the strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

I ordered four COVID PCR test for travel when I travelled to Italy last month. The process was straightforward, the test results came back the same day and the customer service was responsive and polite. I will be travelling again and won't hesitate to use Mayfield's services.

I used Mayfield Clinic to acquire a COVID-19 test before seeing my family in early December. The booking system was easy to use, the team were helpful and friendly. Extremely clear instructions were included and the process was simple. The test turnaround was fast despite the fact I didn't opt to get them expedited. It was worth the cost for the peace of mind and quality of service.
