Don't let Covid prevent you from flying

Don’t let a positive COVID result ruin your plans

COVID-19 has had a massive impact on the travel industry - specifically on the documents we all need to go on holiday. In many countries, you are required to return a negative PCR test 72 hours before departure to prove that you do not carry the COVID-19 virus.

This can be difficult for those who’ve had COVID-19, who still might return positive PCR tests, even 180 days after the initial infection! This makes it difficult for many of us to take those much-needed holidays which, after two years of lockdown, we are all more than eager to take!

Time to breathe though as there is a solution! Many countries now accept official certificates confirming recovery from COVID-19 (during the last 6 months) as sufficient to enter the country. This means that those who have had COVID-19 and are still producing positive PCR results are able to travel with a Proof of Recovery Certificate.

Where can I get a Proof of Recovery Certificate?

This is where we come in. Mayfield Clinic GPs can assess and issue a Certificate of Recovery from COVID-19, meaning that people can travel freely to many destinations of choice again. And the best part is, it’s all done online – quick and easy!

So how does it work? Below we’ve answered any questions you might have about our Certificate of Recovery service. We look forward to helping you travel and get on that much deserved holiday.

How does Proof of Recovery Work?

Our Proof of Recovery service compiles your positive test result and your photo ID you’ll be using for travel. All you have to do is complete the online medical form, which is then reviewed by one of our healthcare assistants. After it’s been assessed, we will provide you with a digital Certificate of Recovery and you’ll be able to travel.

How do I book a Proof of Recovery Certificate?

You can book your Proof of Recovery Certificate directly on our website.
We’ve also created a handy quiz that will let you know your eligibility to use the service!

Am I eligible to use the Proof of Recovery Certificate Service?

We can create a Proof of Recovery Certificate using any positive, certified COVID test, however this may vary according to your destination country, so please do check on the official government website.

You will need one of the following:

  • Positive PCR certificate showing a positive result with your name, date of birth and date of swab.

  • Positive Certified LFD (Rapid Antigen) test either taken by a private provider show your name, date of birth, and date of test.

  • If you’re in the UK: NHS Notification of positive lateral flow test result (rapid antigen) showing your name, date of birth and date of test.

You will also need the photo ID that you intend to travel with.

To make sure you have everything you need, check our online quiz.

How soon can I access the Proof of Recovery Service after testing positive?

This largely depends on where you’re going and the destination country requirements.

You can access the service if it’s been less than 180 days since a positive Covid test. Please note, some countries (such as the U.S.A) require the test to be within 90 days so please check your destination requirement.

You can access our service on Day 8, with Day 0 being the day the positive test was taken, as long as you have completed your UK government mandated isolation period and have produced two negative LFTs 24 hours apart.

Please note that for travel to Australia and Austria you will only be able to access the service on Day 15.

If you have any other questions, please do get in touch with info@mayfieldclinic.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can to ensure you get all you need for your travels in 2022!
