COVID requirements for France

UPDATE: From Saturday 18th December all those travelling to France from the UK must have an essential reason for travel and they must present a negative PCR Test or Rapid Antigen Test, taken within 24 hours pre-departure. These rules apply regardless of vaccination status.


As of the 4th of December, the French Government have changed their entry requirements in relation to COVID-19 testing for those travelling from the UK.

All travellers from the UK to France must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from either a PCR or antigen test. Test results mist be certified by a laboratory to be accepted. Self-administered tests such as those provided free of charge by the NHS are not considered valid for the purpose of travel.

We have listed the testing options below for travel to France from the UK along with our related products. Please do consult the French Embassy in the UK website and the French government's website before you travel to confirm you have what is required.

Vaccinated Travellers

The testing requirements for vaccinated travellers to France from the UK is to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours before departure.

PCR Tests - you can choose either Same Day or Next Day tests for your PCR. We would recommend getting the quickest results possible, which would be the Same Day test to ensure your journey is smooth and stress free.

Rapid Antigen Tests - our Rapid Antigen tests can be taken as a self-test kit or through an appointment. You submit your results online and the certificate will be issues to you within 3 working hours (during Mayfield Clinic's opening hours).

Unvaccinated Travellers

You must have an essential reason for travelling to France from the UK if you are not fully vaccinated.
You must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from either a PCR or Rapid Antigen test no more than 24 hours before travel.

PCR Tests - you will likely need a Same Day PCR test for the best chance of getting your Fit to Fly Certificate in time.
